Hoi zaeme! (hello everyone!)

Just thought I'd write to say hi! (In Schwyzedutsch!)

My classes just started this week, and they're going well, but I'm very tired. I haven't officially registered for my classes yet, so I've been sitting in on several each day to try to figure out what I want to take. (It's what most people do in the first week here) It's kinda tough to decide- they offer so many courses that I just can't get at RPI! So I've been in lectures all day for the past few days, and by the end of the day I'm exhausted- it's still hard for me to really concentrate for so long when everything's in German! But it'll get better, I know! :)

My studio seems like it's going to be very interesting- it is in Split, Croatia (no, I didn't know where Split was at first, either!) which is a city that is over 1700 years old! THe historic city center is inside what was originally the emporor's palace! (Diocletian- I guess he also built some huge baths in Rome!) The studio focuses on a few parts of this city center. AND...guess where I'm going to be for Thanksgiving? Yup, Split, Croatia!!! The week after the 5th week of classes is called Seminar-Week, and there are many excursions offered then- mostly in Europe, but there's also one this semester to NY NY (a close second for me, after Split!) ;) ....kidding! Since our studio is based in Split, our professor is taking a group there. I thought it would be a GREAT way to see a part of the world that I never would have thought of visiting (a city I had never heard of) AND that I'll end up knowing pretty well by then! So I'm REALLY excited about that!

In a few of the classes the professors showed slides of places near home- NYC, Boston, Martha's Vineyard, etc. It kinda surprised me, but it made me feel a little homesick- just to see places that are more familiar to me was kinda nice, soothing, in a way.

Other than that things are going pretty well here. Everybody that I've met so far is very nice, and I think it's going to be an incredible semester!

The sky was really clear today (a rarity) and I could see the Alps off in the distance beyond the Zurichsee!

Too bad I didn't have my camera with me!- one of these days I'm going to get a picture of that to show you, bec. it's really incredible!

Hope everything's going well! I miss you!

Lotsa love, Cor :)
